About WrittenCheck
WrittenCheck is a free AI detector. You paste a text and see how much of it reads like AI writing, with every sentence marked. It's run by a small independent team in Pakistan.
Who we are
WrittenCheck is an independent project. It isn't part of a larger company, and no school, publisher or AI company owns or funds it. A small team in Pakistan builds the detector, runs the website and writes the blog. Blog posts are published under the name "WrittenCheck Team".
The site went live in 2026. You can reach us at writtenchecksupport@gmail.com. A person reads every message.
What WrittenCheck does
The detector estimates how likely it is that a text was written by an AI tool. It gives an overall score, a likely range, a confidence level and a score for each sentence, so you can see which parts drove the result.
- It works in 17 languages: English, Urdu, Hindi, Arabic, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Indonesian, Tagalog (Filipino), Turkish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Thai.
- It checks 40 to 3,000 words at a time. You can paste text or upload a DOCX, PDF, TXT, ODT, RTF or HTML file.
- It's free and you don't need an account.
We also publish guides on AI detection for teachers, students and writers on our blog.
How the detector works
WrittenCheck uses its own trained models. On this site, a deep language model scores English and 16 other languages, and our built-in model answers if that server is busy or offline. It doesn't ask a chatbot whether a text is AI-written, and it doesn't send your text to any other AI service. The models were trained on well over 100,000 texts written by people and by AI models, including public datasets that are credited on our how it works page. That page also shows our latest test results for each language and the kinds of text the detector gets wrong.
The rules we follow
- Your text isn't kept. It's checked in memory on our own server and thrown away. We don't use it for training. The privacy policy has the details.
- We show our mistakes. We publish where the detector fails, and the examples on our homepage include one it got wrong.
- No made-up numbers. Any accuracy figure we publish comes from our own dated tests, and we say what the test covered.
- A score isn't a verdict. A result is an estimate. It can't prove who wrote something, and it shouldn't be the only reason for a decision about a person.
- We don't knock other products. We don't publish comparisons of other companies' tools.
How we pay for it
Right now WrittenCheck has no ads, no paid plan and no sponsors, and we don't sell data. The team covers the costs of the server and the domain. We may add ads in the future to keep the tool free. If we do, we'll update the privacy policy and the cookie policy first, and ask for consent where the law requires it. Ads will never change a detector result.
Our blog
Our guides are researched and checked against their sources before we publish them. The editorial policy explains how we write, how we use sources and AI tools, and how we fix mistakes.
