Terms of use
Last updated 14 October 2026 (API credit link).
These terms apply to writtencheck.com, including the AI detector and the blog. By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
Who we are
WrittenCheck is an independent project run by a small team in Pakistan. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean the WrittenCheck team, and "you" means anyone using the site. You can contact us at writtenchecksupport@gmail.com.
The service
WrittenCheck is a free tool that estimates how likely it is that a text was written by AI. You don't need an account to check text. An optional free account gives you API keys and a private document vault. We may change, limit or pause the service at any time, for example to fix problems, update the detector or stop misuse. We retrain the detector from time to time, so the same text can get a different score later.
What the results mean
A result is an estimate based on writing patterns. It can be wrong in both directions. It isn't proof that a person did or didn't write something.
- Don't use a WrittenCheck score as the only basis for a decision about a student, employee, writer or anyone else.
- If you use a result in a decision that affects someone, look at other evidence too and give them a chance to explain.
- You're responsible for how you use the results.
The disclaimer and how it works pages explain the limits in more detail.
Your text
Only check text you're allowed to share. You keep all rights to your text. We don't store it or claim any rights to it. We only use it to produce your result. See the privacy policy.
Please don't check text that includes other people's sensitive personal details unless you have a good reason and the right to do so.
Fair use
To keep the tool free and fast for everyone:
- Use the site through its normal pages, or through the public API and widget described below. Don't use bots, scripts or scrapers against the site or the detector, and don't try to get around the limits on checks.
- Don't try to overload, break into or disrupt the site.
- Don't use the site or its results for anything illegal, for harassment, or to build or train a competing detector.
- Don't present WrittenCheck results as something they aren't, for example as an official verdict.
We may block connections that break these rules.
API and widget
You can add our detector widget to your own website and call our public API for free, under these terms:
- Every API call needs a free API key, and the widget needs a free widget key, both from your account. Use keys only on websites you run. Widgets without a key still work until 11 November 2026.
- The API is for websites. Each API key belongs to one web page, and that page must show a visible link to writtencheck.com near the tool, for example "AI detection by WrittenCheck". We check the page when you create the key and from time to time after that. A key whose page has no visible link after 7 days is revoked automatically, and the account and that website can't get a new key for 7 days. Don't hide the link or show it only to our checker.
- Stay within the published limits. Don't spread requests over many IP addresses, rotate addresses or use other tricks to get around them.
- Don't use the API for bulk scraping, and don't use its results to train, tune or benchmark a competing detector.
- The "AI detector by WrittenCheck" link under the widget is optional. The small WrittenCheck line inside the widget stays.
- Don't present results as proof of authorship, and don't make them the only basis for a decision about a person, such as a grade or a disciplinary step. Tell your visitors that scores are estimates.
- Only send text that you or your visitors are allowed to share. The rules in "Your text" above apply to text checked through the widget or the API.
- We may change, limit or stop the API or the widget at any time, and we may block traffic that breaks these rules. We don't promise any level of uptime, and the service is provided as is, like the rest of the site.
Accounts
- You need to be at least 13 to create an account. Use a real email address you control, and keep your password safe. You're responsible for what happens under your account and your API keys.
- One person, one account for the free API limits. Don't create extra accounts or share keys to get around the limits.
- Keep API keys secret. If one leaks, revoke it on your account page.
- Your vault documents are encrypted in your browser and we can't read them. That also means we can't recover them if you lose both your vault password and your recovery key. Keep your own copies of anything important.
- We may suspend or delete accounts that break these terms or are used for abuse. You can delete your account at any time on your account page.
Blog comments
If you post a comment, you're responsible for it. Comments must be lawful and respectful. No spam, advertising, personal attacks or other people's private information. We check comments before they appear and may refuse, edit for length or remove any comment. By posting, you give us permission to show your comment on the site. You keep ownership of what you wrote.
Reviews
You can review WrittenCheck from your account. Write about your own experience and be honest, whether it was good or bad. Don't include links, email addresses, other people's private information, advertising, insults or anything unlawful, and don't write reviews for anyone else or in exchange for payment or other rewards. We read every review before it appears. We publish good and bad reviews alike, and we remove only reviews that break these rules. We don't edit what you wrote, but we may reply publicly. By publishing a review, you give us permission to show it, with your first name, the first letter of your last name and your profile photo, on our website. You keep ownership of what you wrote and can edit or delete it at any time.
